Former Miami University Baseball Player Joins The Team Domin8 Advisory Panel

"As a father of two I want to live as long as possible to watch my kids grow up, attend college, and be a grandfather one day. In order to do this I feel that it's important that I educate myself and others on the importance of our everyday health " states Paul Frietch.

Their are so many avenues that we can take, but IT IS PROVEN that USANA is the best route to take. I've been waiting for an opportunity like USANA to share my health and well being with others, so that they to can take the necessary steps in living a healthier life.

Being a member of the Miami University Baseball Team I felt that I had an edge over the rest of the non student athlete's. I was taught daily the proper nutrition and exercise habits that it took to become a healthier person.

Being removed from collegiate sports for five years now I know how hard it is to stick to the right nutritional and exercise habits.

Assistant State Athletic Commisioner Joins Team Domin8 Leadership Panel

Steve obtained a high school diploma from Walnut Hills High School in the Cincinnati Public School District in 1994. He graduated from Miami University in 1999 with a B.S in Health and Sports Studies, following the thematic sequence in Educational Leadership. While at Miami, he also participated as a collegiate baseball player and was an intern in the athletic department.


In 2001, he completed a M.S in Sports Studies while working in the athletic department as Assistant Director of Event Management/Operations. Steve served as the Director of Athletic Events and Community Relations from August 2003-February 2005, then transitioned into a position as Assistant Director of Corporate Relations and Ticket Sales from February 2005-June 2005.


In August 2003, Steve completed the NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males, which focused on Leadership and Administration, Finance and Fundraising, along with Booster and Public Relations.

He served as tournament manager from 1999-2005 in all aspects of OHSAA tournaments in the Southwest District in the sports of football, girls and boys basketball, baseball and softball. Steve has also served as a registered OHSAA official in the sports of basketball and baseball since 1999.

Steve enjoys assisting with professional development, community involvement and assisting with baseball and basketball sport camps.

Steve and his wife, Maria, Ph.D., molecular biologist/biochemist at the Ohio State University Medical Center, reside in Columbus.

As one of the newest members to team Domin8 and the USANA family I am extremely excited to share in our numerous visions and goals.

This opportunity is one that I have dreamed of for many years and I am elated to be sharing my passion for health, nutrition, exercise, and overall wellbeing with others.

I am eager to finally utilize the lessons and skills that I learned while obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition at the Ohio State University.

As a former member of the Ohio State University Women’s Soccer team the correlation between proper nutrition and our athletic performance was discussed daily. But, as I have made the transition into the real world I have realized it plays an even more valuable role in everyday life.

The USANA Difference (MENTORS like Jerry Cervantes)

A key benefit to becoming affiliated with USANA is the team environment that exists within the company. As an individual that has participated in organized sports all his life, successfully led corporate training and managed executive teams, I can truly speak to the value as well as importance of TEAMWORK!

I was initially introduced to USANA by The Cervantes Family. Jerry Cervantes is now a personal USANA mentor and friend of mind. In addition he sits on the Team Domin8 Advisory Panel and oversees all endevours that Team Domin8 considers participating in.

Mr. Jerry Cervantes has led a storied life. He was diagnosed with Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer (NHL) in October 2004. This disease is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system, whose primary function is to ward off disease and infection. Non-Hodgkins lymphoma causes cells in the lymphatic system to abnormally reproduce, eventually leading to tumor growth. In addition, these cancerous cells can also spread to other organs. About 40 -50% of people with this type of lymphoma can be cured with therapy.

Needless to say, the success rate is not great and when Mr. Cervantes was diagnosed he was classified as having Stage IV Aggressive NHL disease (the worst of all levels). His doctor could do nothing more for him other than recommend immediate high-dose chemotherapy if he was to have a chance at living.

Now, let's take a step backwards. Three months prior to his diagnosis Jerry had already noticed that his health was quickly deteriorating. He could no longer work or coach his young basketball team, but figured it was nothing serious. Concerned friends noticed his condition and prescribed vitamins, something which many of us would most likely disregard. However, Mr. Cervantes was reassured that these vitamins were unique and would help rebuild his health. After a few months, the diagnosis came about and his life had now changed in a matter of seconds. There was no turning back, the damage had been done, but his commitment to the Usana supplements never faltered.

Post Stem Cell Transplant

His chemotherapy sessions began in November 2004 and ended in March 2005. He was advised of all the negative effects that he would face while on therapy, but surprisingly he experienced the utter opposite. Minimal hair loss, no vomiting, increased appetite, and higher levels of energy, were just a few of the positive effects he experienced while taking Usana.

His journey didn't end there. After an arduous experience he now faced a stem cell transplantation in May 2005. This would be one of his most difficult moments and would require him to be hospitalized for a minimum of 25 days. Miraculously, Jerry was able to undergo a stem cell transplantation and be out of the hospital in a record-breaking 17 days! Doctors were stunned with his recovery as the average patient will take a minimum of 25-30 days to recover from such an incident.

Furthermore, Jerry blew away doctors with his ability to reproduce stem cells. It takes the average human 3-5 days to build a minimum amount of 5 million stem cells, required for the transplant. In Jerry's case it took him only 8 hours to collect 6 million, a result which doctors today cannot explain. It was evident that Jerry was not alone in his mission to survive as Usana was with him every step of the way strengthening him and supporting him on his road to recovery. At the end of May Jerry was cleared by doctors as no longer having cancer. It is clear that the stem cell transplantation was successful. Cellular repair through the use of Usana products made a pivotal impact on his recovery. While Usana is not a cure for cancer it definitely played a key role in his recovery into full remission.

This testament isn't chance or good fortune, but has been brought about by Usana's proven capability to deliver cellular repair, critical for Jerry and others like him. What’s your Dream?

An enlightening experience with USANA is watching the light come on upstairs once an individual “gets it.” After sitting through just one presentation its easy to understand what all the excitement is about concerning USANA. It isn't about Al Washington or for that matter even yourself…It is about those that are most important to you & the time that quality of life that you desire to share with those individuals.

Friends, I hope you realize that I would never ask any of you to be a part of something that I did not thing we couldn’t be UBER successful at! During this time of the year I think it’s great to sit back and reflect on where your journey has taken you to this point in life and where you would still like to go… I introduced each of you to USANA because I see the company as a VEHICLE that when driven correctly, can help us accomplish our dreams and empower each of us to live the type of family-oriented lives that we desire to have.

There is SO MUCH about USANA as a company that you have yet to uncover... USANA IS unlike any other opportunity that you have been introduced to before! This I am sure of… In my “downtime” after parting ways with Corporate America, I have established a professional business plan for USANA that will help ignite our team to astronomical successes if everyone makes it a point to stay dedicated to the team.

It was at that point that I decided that this journey that we are on was a journey for life!

LEAD THE WAY 2015: "The Game of Life"

Welcome all!

My name is AL Washington. I am utilizing this blog, LEADTHEWAY2015, as a vehicle to document my victories, trials & tribulations on the path to achieving life's most important gifts of TRUE health & TRUE wealth. 


I chose the title "LEADTHEWAY" because it signifies who I am & what I believe in at heart, a LEADER! I believe that with regard to anything you choose to associate yourself with, if you do so with all your energy, you will be successfull beyond your wildest dreams! 


2015 signifies the year that I would like to look back on this initial blog post & evaluate the journey for all the successes as well as opportunities that I have experienced.


As a ten year veteran of the the pharma/biotech industry, I view myself as one of the luck ones... I was lucky enough to have achieved a 6-figure income and a great deal of corporate success by my mid-twenties but smart enough to stay true to myself, my upbringing and what I knew was truly most important in life to ensure that I remained my own captain of "this ship we call life."

Unlike many others, I did not allow myself to be overcome by all the perceived "nicities" that Corporate America would like you to believe define success & happiness. The company car, expense account, hotel points and corporate give-aways are great when you are the point-gaurd controlling the tempo of the game, but what happens 20 years from now when the game has advanced to the 3rd quarter & your company decides to draft the next "Al Washington" when YOU have yet to receive the lion's share of your contract???


This blog is dedicated to any and all people who desire to have the finer things in life WITHOUT having to ultimately sacrifice quality of life in return! I learned two important lessons at an early age; 1) without doing all you can to proactively maintain TRUE health, there is no such thing as "living life to the fullest" & 2) without pursuing TRUE wealth, we are all "pawns" in another person's master plan for life as opposed to being ruler of our own plan!


I welcome you to explore and learn as much information as possible on my blog! If you were invited here by someone other than myself, THANK THAT PERSON because they thought enough of you to assist you in making a difference for the better in your own life.
